Rioglass, the world leader in the development, production, and marketing of high end receiver tubes and concentrating mirrors, proudly introduces its new cutting edge, unrivaled next generation receiver tube, the “UVAC 7G”.
This next generation receiver, which guarantees outstanding absorption rates of above 96.2% and emissivity rates below 9.5%, provides our clients superior solar heat absorption without compromising on heat losses, and sets a new benchmark for thermal energy production, using oil-based HTF in parabolic trough technology.
Since the successful incorporation of the receiver tube business, Rioglass has been heavily investing in further developments of advanced and more efficient receivers in order to enable its customers to increase thermal energy production and thus lowering their cost of energy. This continuous dedication has now resulted in the development of the UVAC 7G. Verified for highest performance by external labs under real working conditions, the UVAC 7G, with its superior energy output, durability and reliability, offers the best value proposition to Rioglass’ valued customers worldwide.
The UVAC 7G can be manufactured with the standard 70 mm diameter (UVAC 7G) or with the larger diameter (90 mm) to fit greater aperture collectors (UVAC 90-7G).
The ceremony took place on the 12th November at Hotel Barceló Renacimiento in Seville as part of the International CSP Week.
Thousands of online votes cast by the concentrated solar power industry were assessed by a panel of Judges comprising, Luis Crespo, President of ESTELA, Avraham Brenmiller, CEO at Brenmiller Energy, Eduardo Zarza, Head of Solar Concentrating Systems at CIEMAT, Manuel Blanco, Solar Thermal Group Leader at CSIRO and Manuel Silva, Professor at University of Sevilla.
Rioglass Solar S.A. is an international company offering high quality receiver tubes and concentrating mirrors for concentrated solar power and concentrated photovoltaic technology. Founded in 2007, it now is the leading supplier of concentrating mirrors and CSP receiver tubes in the world with modern production facilities in Spain, the United States and South Africa, and with worldwide presence in the CSP market. Rioglass Solar offers the best economic solutions based on innovative designs and concepts combined with a highly automated production capacity to produce high quality products with top performance for our customers worldwide.
Innovation is embedded in the company´s culture. Rioglass Solar was the first company to introduce the tempered parabolic mirrors to the market as well as the first to commercially deploy heliostat mirror facets with an integrated support structure. The UVAC 6 G is the stateof- the-art solution offered by Rioglass Solar for receiver tubes.
Over 6 million parabolic trough mirrors of Rioglass Solar have been installed worldwide as well as numerous mirrors and mirror solutions for different CSP technologies such as parabolic trough, dish Stirling, Heliostat mirrors and linear Fresnel, as well as for different CPV applications.
The judges decided that Rioglass Solar deserved the award for their continuous improvement of quality of their products and the solution provided for the construction of more precise heliostats. This is key to improve the technology of central receiver and the heliostats field.
The CSP Today International Awards are granted to companies that excel in the industry and truly deserve an award for their great efforts on getting CSP further down the competitive route. Those exceptional companies were recognized on the 12th of November during the CSP Today International Awards Ceremony in Sevilla.
The Awards Ceremony has been organized by CSP Today in conjunction with the International CSP Week, 11-14 November, with over 400 attendees.

Rioglass, the world leader in the production of the highest quality reflectors and receivers for the Concentrated Solar Power and Concentrated Photovoltaic markets is proud to introduce its cutting edge and unrivaled 90mm diameter receiver tube, the UVAC 90. This next generation of receiver provides our clients superior solar heat absorption with reduced heat losses, and sets a new benchmark for thermal heat production using parabolic trough technology. The Xina project being constructed in South Africa, will be the first industrial plant fitted with this product.
The primary focus of project developers has been to improve the efficiency of their CSP installations while continuing to drive cost out of the process. One of the methods used to achieve this objective is through the use of larger aperture troughs which enables more energy to be concentrated onto the receiver, hence increasing the energy output per unit. Once again, Rioglass has responded to the needs of the market by developing this larger UVAC 90 receiver which assures maximum energy absorption from the larger troughs.

September 13th, 2013 – Brussels, Belgium — Rioglass Solar, the leading manufacturer of mirrors used for Concentrating Solar Power, has signed an agreement with Siemens CSP, for the acquisition of the receiver technology and related manufacturing assets.

José M. Villanueva, Chairman and CEO of Rioglass Solar Holding, said “This acquisition provides Rioglass Solar with a unique opportunity to diversify and strengthen its presence in the CSP market with a strong product package. It displays once more our commitment to this industry and our customers to support them in meeting the challenges of a renewable energy future”.

The execution of the transaction is subject to the approval of the Antitrust Authority and other governmental entities. Rioglass Solar reinforces its position as a leader in the CSP market with this transaction, now as a supplier of two of the main components of parabolic trough technology, mirrors and receivers, as well as reflectors for CSP towers, Fresnel and Stirling technologies.

About Rioglass Solar:

Founded in 2007, Rioglass Solar is now the largest CSP mirror supplier in the world with cutting edge production facilities in Spain, the United States and South Africa.
